Ice Fishing At Maspy
I enjoyed a full day out on the lake today and had a pretty successful trip. My buddy Hayes joined for the first half of the day. The ice had slush on top which made it wet and somewhat sketchy but all the spots we fished at had 3-4 inches of solid ice under so we were able to relax a bit.
The first fish came on our 3rd tip up as the first 2 were robbed before we could reel in. It was a beauty of a perch, one of the biggest I've seen- not a bad way to start the day. About an hour later Mike pulled in a nice pickerel, a great fight to witness. He had to leave around 2:00 but I stayed out for a couple more hours. I moved the traps around a bit to get to different areas. Over the next two hours I caught 3 pickerel and had a couple other missed flags. Overall a great day out there, some fish, some snow flurries and a little whiskey. Hopefully the next trip will yield some nice bass!
